Liechtenstein came into being from the Merger of the Lordship of Schellenberg and the County of Vaduz and the elevation of this combined territory to the dignity of an Imperial Principality by Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI on 23 January 1719.

In 2019, the Principality of Liechtenstein can celebrate its three hundred years of existence and the year will be hallmarked by these festivities. You can find out more at
